Silver and Roses, Henna and Myrrh

Sun and Moon, Heaven and Earth

To a Voyager

In arch compare and high-deceiving craft

My song of zeal beseeching I’ve not penned

Like on the faithless sea a hapless raft

Starred only into ruin fast to wend.

More like a stalwart clipper I my song,

With valor and a heart of oak, have wrought,

So that it shall the sea have mastered strong

With stoutest hull, its perfidy abought.

Upon a great white swan I bid thee sail,

Whose lordly wings becalm the stormy sea,

Whose form betokens lovely his heart’s mail,

His candid faith and his fair honesty.

Thy passage on the soundest stead does stand,

The faith that havens thee on sea and land.
