Silver and Roses, Henna and Myrrh

Sun and Moon, Heaven and Earth

To Thy Magnificence

With Heaven’s timeless signet I engrave

My name upon the golden frontispiece

Emblazoning the book that I thee gave,

The book of love foredooméd not to cease.

Of poetry doubt not the deathless truth;

My sonnets are the hallmark of my love;

Or heralding, repining, saying sooth,

Or antheming the princedom of our dove.

From out the golden triumph of the dawn

Its shining I have borne to be alloyed,

And silver from the sterling Moon is drawn

For glory that shall never be destroyed.

The Royal Captain of the Universe

Forbids his Thomas to forswear his verse.
