Silver and Roses, Henna and Myrrh

Sun and Moon, Heaven and Earth

To My Second Sun

When first the rampant Sun did I behold,

His despotat commanding on the world,

I prized him as a god of living gold,

Ennobled by the flag of morn unfurled.

Now many times the trumpet of the Sun

Has shrilly pierced the silence of my dawn,

Yet ever-furthered glory he has won

Within the ship that my heart’s sail has drawn.

Of glory, then, a lesson have I learned

And know its rising fire shall never wane,

Shall burn forever where it e’er has burned

And make each newer day its loyal thane.

Thy love, another Sun unto my day,

With glory ever-heavier shall weigh.
